Changing Windows XP serial number in SP2

For those of us that has been around the block when it comes to changing Windows XP serials.
We used a small scrippt or the oobe /a method.
For Windows XP Service Pack 2 that way of updating isnt applicable anymore.
Luckily I found this article describing it

You have to download the program located at
and have a valid serial handy.

Start – enter serial – reboot – applied.
Easy and nice.

Updated my gamelist for the xbox 360

HDTV part deux

A few days later when I familiarized myself with the Plasma, which btw Im very pleased with I started to look around the internet for more advanced settings on finetuning it. After an hour of tweaking and trying I had my ‘best’ setup. The background is still a little bit grey, but I can live with it. If I made it darker I would loose too much detail. Got som HDTV episodes to feed it from the HTPC as well, I wasn’t very happy about the computers performance when I came to the choppy playback using VLC, so I had to look around for a more suitable player for Matroska file (.mkv) and after a while I found

http://www.cccp-project.net/ , the Combined Community Codec Pack which suited my needs, using that package I was also able to play 1080i material at a more normal screen width that I couldn’t have in VLC player. Also the player didn’t suffer from the need of deinterlacing the movie as I had to do using the VLC client. But the VLC client is better at playing .ts files from my computer so Im going to use them both. Perfomancewise the CCCP managed to keep the movies smoother than VLC, and when I pressed pause in CCCP the move stopped at the exact moment, VLC seems to look for the keyframe first. Since my daughter and girlfriend was away at a friends house I also played Call of Duty 2 with lots of sounds on. The game was much more fun in HDTV and I also managed to snipe some more Jerries this time than the last time around (on the old CRT).

HDTV part one

Just got a new Plasma for my livingroom  LG 42" PC1R. LGs information here: http://nordic.lge.com/sv/prodmodeldetail.do?catModel=0&actType=&modelName=&currentPage=&categoryId=0101&parentId=01&modelCategoryId=0101&modelCodeDisplay=42PC1R&sender_name=Mitt+namn&sender_mail=Min+e-postadress&receiver_name=V%C3%A4nnens+namn&receiver_mail=V%C3%A4nnens+e-postadress

The company I ordered from at 14:00h in the day delivered later at 17:00h, they also took the time to install the Plasma on the Tvbench, So I didn’t have to lift anything at all.   J

After they left I played around with it as it where, hooking up my Xbox 360 (using Component), my Xbox1 using SCART, my Dreambox using SCART and my PC using the VGA. The test went nice, I did have to change the resolution on the TV from the normal 1024*768 to the HDtv display of 720p, the Panel of the Plasma isn’t True 720p Display, but as far as I could see there weren’t anything to get upset about. Ok now for the first test. Fired up my Xbox 360 in 720p, looked wonderful the colours wherent over the top but they where there. And for the first time I could actually read the white text on the black background. Inserted the game Oblivion IV into the Xbox 360 and started playing, suddenly I saw things that hadn’t shown on the old 32" CRT. Changed the game to Burnout Revenge and where also satisfied, Im not that impressed with the game because they are using the xbox build for it, although a bit more polished. I cant wait until they release the follow up to Burnout that are going to be made from the ground up for Xbox 360. Anyhow back to the subject. Tried the old xbox using SCART, and I wasn’t that impressed with how the Plasma handled it, Im not sure if it’s the xbox mediacenter or the plasma but when I change view in xbmc, there is a small but noticeable switch from grainy to a more subtle font like from Deinterlaced to Interlaced. Playing movies from the xbmc worked great but Im going to switch either to the VGA or Component on the old xbox. I want higher resolution for that one as well.

This is going to take a while since I don’t want and quickfix for my Tvsetup and I want to look around for decent cables.

Setup now:

Xbox 360 – component and optical stereo

Xbox – SCART

Dreambox – SCART and optical stereo

Setup when I’m done.

Xbox 360 – VGA or Component, optical to the stereo
Xbox – VGA or Component ?, optical to the stereo
HTPC – HDMI and Digital coax to the stereo

Dreambox – SCART and optical/or digital coax  to the stereo
Gamecube – Svideo and audio straight into the TV (no stereo output)
