Playing mp3s in Fedora

Found this little page that describes how to do it! Nothing is supported straight out of the box. Too bad !

Mounting in Fedora Core 5

Ran into a small problem when trying to mount my Windows so I can play my music files in linux as well. I tried with the trusty old smbfs and it didnt work. Took me a while to find out that smbfs doesnt exist anymore, it now the days of CIFS….

When I tried with cifs it worked straight away, command for mounting:
mount -t cifs -o username=USER,password=PASS //192.168.0.21/g /mnt/share/

to probe a windows machine for a share run:
smbclient -L \\192.168.0.21 -U USER

ATI 800 GT and Fedora Core 5 vs Wize

The battle for a working setup on my HP DC7100 with an ATI X800 Gfx card has somewhat been a one way victory for the sloppy ATI driver, but behold when I got home from my vacation I did some more reading up, and dont you think that the folks at ATI finally had solved/added the Fedora kernel as well..

Hey this is really looking good right now, so Ill have to run it for a while to see if its any good. So now to be on the sure side of breaking my computers Im running Package updater to see if it can break some other stuff. And maybe it will or maybe it wont.

Now I have test the Mp3 player to see if its any good.

Venice

Just got back from a small trip to Venice, wonderful place a tad bit expensive though. Nice to go to if you want to get engaged !
The prices are quite steep, but what do do when you are on an town that are located on an island. Had a wonderful time with my small family, and I really can recommend the beautiful city to everyone else.

Canon Ixus 800 IS

Ordered myself a new digital camera. After a lot of reading the choice fell on this camera for two reasons.

• The IS capability (Images Stabilizing)
• The old camera was also an Ixus (Canon Ixus v2)

Ill put up some images later on.. Anyhee, the camera is sweet to use and fast as lightning when it comes to Starting up, and handling the old camera isnt even in the 10% league of this camera.

Images size, the camera has the same numbers of pixels as Ixus 60 and Ixus 65, main difference being the IS thing.

 

I can take two pics a second for as long as my memory isnt filled, thats very nice when waiting for the perfect moment.

I got myself a computerbag, Ive been looking to see what the PowerPC People uses.
